First flown in March of 1945, the A-1 Skyraider was not ready in time to see service during World War II, instead receiving its first combat action in Korea. It had a long, successful career with the U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Marines. During the early years of the Vietnam War, it was the primary medium attack aircraft in many carrier air wings. It was eventually replaced by the A-7 Corsair II in the early 1970s.
This 1/72 scale, die cast model is a Hobby Master re-creation of an A-1H Skyraider as it appeared with the VA-52 "Knight Riders" stationed on the USS Ticonderoga in 1967. It features engraved panel lines, a rotating propeller, a detailed radial engine front, an opening glazed canopy, a well-equipped cockpit (with a removable pilot figure), full weapons complement, optional-position landing gear, authentic markings, and a display stand. Measures approximately 6½" long with an 8¼" wingspan.
