The A-4 Skyhawk, introduced in 1956, was an attack aircraft that served with the U.S. Navy and Marines for more than forty years. With its low-altitude bombing system, it was capable of delivering nuclear weapons, a crucial characteristic for early Cold War attackers. The Skyhawk saw extensive service in Vietnam, carrying out light attack duties during the early years of the conflict (though more than 350 were ultimately lost in Southeast Asia).
A Hobby Master reproduction of an A-4C Skyhawk as it appeared with the VA-153 "Blue Tail Flies" stationed on the USS Coral Sea in the 1960s, this 1/72 scale, die cast model features the unit's signature blue tail markings, engraved panel lines, a sliding canopy, a removable pilot figure, a well-equipped cockpit, full weapons complement, a detailed exhaust port, optional-position landing gear, and a display stand. Measures approximately 6¾" long with a 4¾" wingspan.
