In service with the U.S Navy and Marines from the late 1960s through 1991, the A-7 Corsair II — introduced to replace the A-4 Skyhawk — was an attack aircraft that saw extensive service during the Vietnam War. It was based on the airframe of the F-8 Crusader and, in addition to American service, was also operational in Portugal, Thailand, and Greece.
