In response to the Douglas DC-4, Lockheed developed the longer and more powerful Super Constellation, which included weather radar, larger propellers, and a triple tail. The EC-121 version, designed for the U.S. military, served as an airborne early warning system and gathered intelligence during the Cold War. More than 200 were manufactured and it served the Navy through the early 1980s.
This 1/200 scale, Hobby Master, die cast replica — a reproduction of an EC-121R as it appeared with the 553rd RW in December of 1970, during the Vietnam War — features the signature camouflage paint scheme, simulated cockpit and cabin windows, rotating propellers, detailed radial engines, optional-position landing gear, authentic markings, and a display stand. Measures approximately 7" long with a 7½" wingspan.
