Relocated to RAF Lakenheath, England in January 1960, the 493rd Fighter Squadron "Grim Reapers" were equipped with the F-100 Super Sabre with a mission to provide air-to-air offense/defense in support of USAF and NATO operations. Then in 1972, the squadron was re-equipped with the F-4 Phantom II until 1977 when they exchanged the aircraft for the F-111. When the new F-15C Eagle arrived, there were 24 of them total in 1994. One F-15C wear two stars denoting the IrAF Mirage and MiG-23 it downed in Operation Desert Storm.
This 1/72 scale, die cast model is a Hobby Master hand-painted replica of an F-15C Eagle, as it appeared with the 493rd FS at RAF Lakenheath in 2014, features engraved panel lines, an opening canopy with crew figure, optional-position landing gear, authentic pad-printed markings, and a display stand. 10½" long.
