Serving in the Pacific Theater during the Second World War, First Lt. John F. Bolt Jr. would go on to be one of the most accomplished aviators in Marine history. Flying with the VMF-214 "Black Sheep," he scored six aerial victories over Japanese Zeros. He was also deployed during the Korean War where, flying F-86 Sabres, he scored another six kills! He is the first and only Marine pilot to attain ace status in two different wars; he is also the first Marine to become a jet ace.
A stunning Hobby Master replica of Bolt's F4U-1 as it appeared during his time at the Russell Island in 1943, this 1/48 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model features engraved panel lines, a sliding canopy, a well-equipped cockpit including panel instrumentation, a removable pilot figure, a detailed Pratt & Whitney R-2800-8W Double Wasp radial engine front with a rotating propeller, moveable inverted gull wings, a removable drop tank, optional-position landing gear, authentic markings, and a display stand. Measures approximately 8¼" long with a 10¼" wingspan.
