Belonging to the VMF-214 "Black Sheep" Squadron, this F4U-1A Corsair was operated by both Major Greg "Pappy" Boyington and 1st Lt. Bob McClurg. After, McClurg joined the squad he served two tours with the VMF-214, where he scored seven victories between September and December of 1943. Boyington downed four Zeros over Rabaul on December 26, 1943, with a total of 20 victories overall.
