Although the Spitfire is celebrated as England's savior during the Battle of Britain, it was the trusty Hawker Hurricane that inflicted most of the damage on the Luftwaffe. Indeed, the Hurricane destroyed more enemy aircraft than all of Britain's other defenses combined. Among the most celebrated pilots to fly the Hurricane was Peter Townsend, commanding officer of No. 85 Squadron during the Battle of Britain who personally shot down at least four enemy aircraft. He would go on to be the equerry to King George VI.
A stunning Hobby Master reproduction of Townsend's Mk. 1 as it appeared during the Battle of Britain, this 1/48 scale, die cast model features that aircraft's signature camouflage paint scheme, engraved panel lines, a glazed canopy, a removable pilot figure, a rotating propeller, realistic Hispano cannons, optional-position landing gear, authentic No. 85 Squadron markings, and a display stand. Measures approximately 8" long with a 10" wingspan.
