A uniquely designed U.S. military aircraft, the V-22 Osprey is a staples of today's modern forces. In service with both the Marines and Air Force, the Osprey was officially introduced in 2007. The aircraft is a tiltrotor vertical/short takeoff and landing (VSTOL) aircraft that can perform like a conventional helicopter and has the long-range performance of a turboprop.
Made by Air Force 1, this 1/72 scale, die cast model is a reproduction of an MV-22 serving with HMX-1 — a Marine squadron responsible for transporting the president and his aides. Strangely, however, the Osprey has not yet been deemed safe enough for the commander-in-chief to fly in it, given its early precarious history with crashes. This replica features a signature green paint scheme, engraved panel lines, a well-equipped interior with glazed windows, a swiveling wing (for storage on aircraft carriers), tiltrotor blades, an opening cargo door that seals magnetically, authentic markings, and a metal display stand. Measures approximately 9½" long with a 7¾" wingspan.
