Developed in tandem by the United Kingdom, Italy, and West Germany, the Panavia Tornado is a multi-purpose fighter first flown in 1974. Due to its versatility, its official introduction in 1979 began the process of slowly retiring a number of aging aircraft in the British, Italian, West German, and Saudi Arabian fleets. The Tornado has seen service during the Gulf, Bosnian, Kosovo, and Iraq Wars, and it remains operational today with nearly a thousand having been manufactured.
This 1/72 scale, die cast model — a replica of a Tornado F3 serving with the RAF No. 65 Squadron as it appeared in 1990 — features the aircraft's standout red and white colors, engraved panel lines, a glazed canopy, a well-equipped cockpit, fixed landing gear, realistic air intakes and afterburning engine nozzle, full weapons complement, authentic markings, and a mid-flight display stand. Measures approximately 9¼" with a 7¾" wingspan.
