First flown in December of 1988, the Gripen was not officially introduced until November of 1997. Built by the Swedish auto manufacturer Saab, it was designed to replace previous iterations produced by the company including the 35 Draken and 37 Viggen. The multi-purpose aircraft is now in service in seven nations, primarily operating with the Swedish Air Force.
This limited edition, 1/72 scale, die cast model of the versatile aircraft — painted in black as it appears at the Swedish Air Force Museum — features realistic panel lines, a glazed canopy, a well-equipped cockpit, realistic air intake and drop tanks, full weapons complement, extended landing gear, authentic markings, and a display stand. Measures approximately 7¾" long with a 4¾" wingspan.
