Arriving at Akhtubinsk in 2011, the first Su-35 Flanker E underwent testing by military pilots at the State Flight Test Center to ensure the aircraft met specifications, before entering full production. Named after V. Chkalov - a test pilot killed during a practice flight in the 1930s - the facility full name if 929th test center of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
