The world's first supersonic trainer, the T-38 Talon — which is also the most-produced trainer in history, with more than 1,100 manufactured — was officially introduced in March of 1961. More than a half century after its debut, it remains operational with the U.S. military. It also set a number of records in the early years of the Cold War, including speed, distance, and altitude marks achieved in 1961 by Jackie Cochran — among the most legendary icons in the history of women's aviation.
Made by Hobby Master, this 1/72 scale, die cast model is a replica of Cochran's T-38A as it appeared during her record-setting trials in October of 1961. It features a striking white paint scheme, engraved panel lines, a glazed opening canopy, a well-equipped cockpit (with an instrument panel and a removable crew figure), a detailed exhaust nozzle, optional-position landing gear, authentic markings, and a display stand. Measures approximately 7¾" long with a 4¼" wingspan.
