With tensions mounting, President Eisenhower's request for more accurate intelligence on the Soviet Union was the spark that ignited the U-2 project, approved in 1954. It was an innovative aircraft, capable of all-weather intelligence gathering. The high-altitude recon plane served America throughout the Cold War and remains operational today.
A newly tooled replica of a U-2A, this 1/48 scale plastic kit — with an impressive wingspan measuring more than two feet — features realistic panel line rivets, a well-equipped cockpit (with a single-piece seat and instrument panel), a multi-camera view port, optional-position speed brakes, a photo-etched sprue, a single-piece stabilizer, a canvas sun shield, and authentic markings. Assembly required. Skill level 4. Measures approximately 15¾" long with a 25¾" wingspan.
