Short Stirling Mk.III 1/72 Die Cast Model Flt. Sgt. Arthur Aaron, No. 218 Squadron, RAF On August 12, 1943, British pilot Flt. Sgt. Arthur Aaron of RAF No. 218 Squadron commanded a Short Stirling Mk.III bombing mission against the Fiat works at Turin. Immediately heavily fired upon by an enemy fighter, Aaron was struck in the jaw, lung, and right arm, but managed to direct the crew's bomb aimer to fly the crippled aircraft to Bone airfield in North Africa. Nine hours after landing, Aaron died of exhaustion but saved most of his crew.
Commemorating that heroic pilot, this limited edition, 1/72 scale, die cast Corgi model features engraved panel lines; a cockpit, nose and tail turrets, and a twin-gun dorsal turret, each detailed with hand-painted crew figures and glazed windows; intricate engine fronts with rotating propellers; a realistic bomb bay with opening doors and a configurable load; optional-position landing gear with real rubber tires; and authentic markings. 16½" wingspan; arrives ready to display on the included stand. | New item pricing... save 30$! | | Regular price: | $179.00 | | | Sale Price: | $169.00 | |
