Originally designed for the U.S. Air Force, the F5F Tiger II was moved to the Navy's Fighter Weapons School - or "Top Gun" - in 1976. Located at NAS Miramar, the school trained pilots in advanced techniques of combat flying. In 1990, the Marine Corps requested the F5F to use in their aggressor program, so it was transferred that same year.
