The Korean War saw the progression of late World War II-era jet technology, and featured some of the first combat operations for many of America's newest machines. The F-80 "Shooting Star" was the first jet fighter ever used by the United States Air Force, though it was largely outclassed by the MiG-15. The F-94 "Starfire" replaced the F-82 Twin Mustang in the all-weather interceptor role, and saw service until 1958.
