The North American F-86 Sabre was manufactured from 1949 - 1956 and was America's first swept-wing fighter. Japan received the first Sabres in December 1955, and on March 4, 1960, the new F-86F aerobatic team "Tenryu" performed its first demonstration at Hamamatsu Air Base. Westerners thought "Tenryu" was difficult to pronounce, so the name became "Blue Impulse."
Designed with the "Blue Impulse" marking, this 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model replicates the F-86F variant as it served the JASDF. It includes surface details, landing gear, an adjustable canopy, a pilot figure, an intricate cockpit, an accurately detailed underside, M2 Browning machine guns, air-to-ground rockets, and a display stand. Measures 6" long with a 6" wingspan. Shipping July 2020.
