The VFA-151 was originally nicknamed "Flashers;" however, in 1955, the insignia was changed to the skull with a bloodied knife, and the nickname "Vigilantes" came into effect. On July 31, 2019, while flying a F/A-18E, Lt. Charles Z. Walker crashed in to what is referred to as Star Wars Canyon located in Death Valley National Park. To memorialize Lt. Walker, this aircraft had numerous references to him designed to the fuselage and tail.
With markings from the VFA-151 "Vigilantes," this 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model recreates the F/A 18E. It includes realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, surface details, a detailed cockpit interior, interchangeable extended or retracted landing gear, detachable ordnance loads, a detailed underside, and a display stand. Measures 10" long with a 7½" wingspan. Shipping June 2020.
