During the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941, 2nd Lt. George Welch and 2nd Lt. Kenneth Taylor hurried back to the airfield to fly their P-40s against enemy aircraft. Armed with only 30-caliber wing guns, they had to return to refuel and rearm with ammunition. Scoring a total of six victories, they each received the Distinguished Service Award.
This 1/48 scale, die cast model is a Hobby Master hand-painted replica of a P-40B Warhawk, as it appeared with 2nd Lt. George Welch of the 47th Pursuit Squadron, 15th Pursuit Group at Wheeler Field in Hawaii, 1941, features engraved panel lines, an opening canopy with a removable pilot figure, optional-position landing gear, authentic pad-printed markings, and a display stand. 9¼" wingspan.
