The "Black Widow" is an important aircraft in the history of military aviation, being the first ever designed specifically for night interception of enemy planes, and also the first aircraft to be designed with radar technology. The three-man crew included the pilot, gunner, and radar operator. It was first flown in 1942, and saw combat action in the last two years of World War II, eventually retiring in 1954.
Hand-carved and hand-painted, this 1/48 scale, mahogany model of the P-61 Black Widow has a 16" wingspan and arrives ready to display on an elegant wood base.
