Looking to upgrade their Su-27 multi-purpose fighter in the 1980s, the Russians began developing an advanced derivative that became known as the Su-35. Though this first iteration — initially flown in 1988 — ultimately took on its own Su-37 designation, engineers continued their work and designed a 4++ Generation fighter, meant to bridge the gap before the PAK FA became available. This newest plane, officially the Su-35, took its first flight in 2008.
Made by Hobby Master, this 1/72 scale, die cast model is a quality re-creation of a Su-35 as it appeared with the Chinese Air Force. It features engraved panel lines, an opening canopy, a well-appointed cockpit, a removable pilot figure, realistic air intakes, optional thrust-vectoring exhaust ports, an impressive selection of wing- and fuselage-mounted weaponry, authentic markings, optional-position landing gear, and a mid-flight display stand. Measures approximately 12¼" long with an 8½" wingspan.
