Pilot William Evans of VT-8 aboard the USS Hornet flew a T-3 during the Battle of Midway. On June 4, 1942, VT-8 set out to attack Japanese aircraft carriers; however, due to a series of errors, it arrived without any Wildcat protection. This carrier-based, torpedo-bomber was first flown on April 15, 1935.
Featuring markings from the VT-8, this 1/72 scale, Hobby Master, die cast model replicates the TBD-1 Devastator as it was piloted by William Evans of the USS Hornet during the Battle of Midway in June, 1942. It includes a greenhouse canopy, a detailed cockpit interior, a pad-printed instrument panel, flight controls, antennas, a rear mounted machine gun, realistic panel lines, access panels, surface details, interchangeable extended/retracted landing gear, and a display stand. Measures 5¾" long with an 8¼" wingspan. Shipping June 2020.
